Land and Housing Campaign Senior Intern

The Land and Housing Campaign seek a Senior Intern for the Fall. The intern will assist in project management tasks in this thematic campaign. The Campaign provides a unique opportunity for interns to support member organizations involved in a set of initiatives led by our member groups and partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The Senior Intern will work closely with the Coordinator of the Land and Housing Campaign and assist with the Women Land Link Africa (WLLA) initiative, whose activities' results and outcomes crosscut with the Land and Housing Campaign.

Responsibilities include:

  • Synthesize knowledge emerging from the supported activities across the programs in Africa, Asia and Latin America concerning the issue of grassroots women's ownership and access to land and housing. 
  • Organize and file ongoing documentation and reporting from the field
  • Draft reports and support on grant management
  • Analyze the results of the thematic project activities, communicate with involved groups, and work with member organizations to implement 2011-2012 activities. 
  • Publicize the work of member organizations; support their organizing and networking efforts
  • Assist HC staff to coordinate campaign member's participation in various global policy dialogues
  • Research on policy, helping to develop policy recommendations, seeking institutional spaces and events for advocacy, writing reports, grant writing and managing contracts for activities

Strong candidates should have working experience in the field of community development and be especially interested on community organizing, women's empowerment and related issues. Candidates must have strong writing skills in English (French proficiency, written and spoken a plus) and ability to multi-task, and able to commit at least 15 hours/week.
